The youth ministry exists to glorify God by providing role models and mentoring relationships that disciple students to become devoted followers of Christ. This ministry seeks to develop students who not only grow in their faith but are also equipped to share the gospel with their peers in ways that are relevant, exciting, and effective. We also seek to connect our students directly with Young Life which is currently getting established in our local area for the sole purpose of reaching students in the Kennebunks with the gospel message. If you are interested in knowing more about the Sea Road youth ministry or would like to participate, then please contact Edwin Martinez at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Edwin was born and raise Los Angeles, California in a low-income community. In the midst of drugs, gangs and racial tensions he was destined to be just another statistic, “But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us”(Eph.2:4) convicted him of his sins and in 2009 Edwin gave his life completely over to God and received Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
The Lord placed him in a small Pentecostal church predominantly Hispanic and being the youngest man in the church, the pastor and his wife encouraged him to start a youth program. The pastor’s wife eventually handed over to him the full responsibility of developing and disciplining teenagers in the community. In the summers, Edwin dedicated his time serving as a camp counselor and after many years of counseling and directing camps, the Lord had made it obvious to others that Edwin was called into pastoral ministry. Edwin received his training and studied Biblical & Theological Studies at Berkshire Institute of Christian Studies. Soon after he went into full time ministry and worked as an apprentice under Pastor and Superintendent Greg Twitchell.
Edwin has a passion for student ministry. He believes every minute in the ministry is a potential treasure. What takes place in a half hour can count for eternity. Edwin’s heart is to share the hope we have in Christ to young people and together have a positive impact in our community through the movement of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
