Lord, Teach Us to Pray

Sermon Series Scripture:

Matthew 6:9-13 and Luke 11:1-4

Sermon Series Overview:

If we were truly honest with ourselves, then we would likely admit that our prayer life is at best less than adequate and at worst virtually non-existent except in times of crisis. However, if prayer is truly vital to our spiritual health, then how can we learn how to pray more effectively in all areas of our life? For the next seven weeks we are going to immerse ourselves in the prayer that Jesus taught his disciples to pray. We are going to study each of the seven petitions outlined in the Lord’s prayer. This particular prayer was not intended to be a rigid formula of what to pray but rather a model for how we are to pray. The Lord’s prayer provides us with a framework that is comprehensive but not exhaustive. The goal of this series is to help us avoid the relatively easy fall into mindless, wandering, groundless prayers and instead pray with renewed clarity, focus, and meaning. Join us as we discover together how we can pray as Jesus instructed us to pray: to our Father in heaven, who is Lord over all.
